On Sunday, we saw some very special children celebrate Christmas in July, along with their family and friends at The Bluebells.
The Pirate themed party started at 1pm and saw over 200 guests enjoy lots of fun activities. They could walk the plank, dig for gold, watch the Pirate magic show and listen to the Pirate band ‘Captains Beard’.
We were very lucky to also have The Honeypot Children’s Charity playbus there for the party too. Guests could decorate their own Pirate gingerbread man biscuit, colour and do other arts and crafts in the playbus that was parked outside The Bluebells.
Lots of bouncing fun was had on the bouncy castle, before guests tucked into a delicious Hog Roast, and as the sun came out to play for the afternoon the ice creams and strawberries were a welcome dessert.
Father Christmas was also there in his grotto, and got into the spirit of the day as he was also a Pirate! Children could visit him, have their photo taken with him and were also given a Christmas present.
Christmas in July is an opportunity for families to leave their troubles and pressure behind for the day and create fun memories as a family. The smiles on everyone’s faces, especially the children’s, said it all! Children of all ages played well together and the adults were all relaxed too. There was a real family atmosphere to the day.
The Trust staff and the volunteers got into the spirit by dressing as Pirates, and many of the guests also followed the theme with some fantastic costumes not just from the children but the adults too!
After lots of swash buckling fun, guests headed home with balloon swords, presents from Father Christmas, smiles on their faces and lots of wonderful memories.
Thank you to all our wonderful staff, volunteers and everyone who helped and donated items and their time to make the party so very memorable!
