Support that comes to you

When getting to The Bluebells isn’t possible, we’re still here — offering check-ins, guidance, counselling and connection by phone or online, whenever you need us

Digital support

We know that getting to The Bluebells or meeting in person isn’t always possible. Hospital stays, school, work, caring responsibilities and sheer exhaustion can make travel feel overwhelming. That’s why we also support families digitally, bringing connection, care and community to you, wherever you are.

Our digital support means you can still feel held, heard and included, even on the days you can’t be with us in person.

How digital support can help

Families tell us that digital support:

  • Fits around hospital stays, school runs and caring
  • Reduces travel stress and fatigue
  • Helps them feel “held in mind” even when life is chaotic
  • Keeps them connected to the charity and to other families, wherever they are

Digital support doesn’t replace the warmth of being together at The Bluebells, but it does mean you don’t lose touch when getting there is hard.

Staying connected, wherever you are

Our family services team offers a range of support online and over the phone, including:

1:1 Check-ins

Video or phone calls with a member of the team, giving you space to talk about how things are, share worries, or simply offload with someone who understands. These can be regular, or just when you need them most.

Emotional and practical support online

We can talk through appointments, school issues, benefits, forms and other practical challenges that come with caring for a life-limited child. Sometimes a quick call or online chat can make a big difference to how manageable things feel.

Support for children and young people

Where appropriate, we can also offer online sessions for children and siblings. This might include creative activities led over video, small group chats where they can meet others in similar situations, or gentle one-to-one conversations with a trusted member of the team. These sessions are designed to be safe, age-appropriate and relaxed, helping young people feel less alone with what they’re experiencing.

Digital counselling

For some parents and carers, meeting online with our counsellor can be easier than travelling to an appointment.
We offer remote counselling sessions (where appropriate), giving you a private, confidential space to talk from home or another safe place.
