A place to pause, connect and simply be together

At The Bluebells, families of children with life-limiting conditions can relax, enjoy accessible facilities, and make precious memories in a welcoming, home-from-home environment

The Bluebells

Restorative breaks

The Bluebells, our “home-from-home” in the Hampshire village of North Waltham, is a place where families can press pause, breathe out and spend time together away from the pressures of everyday life. Created as the UK’s first purpose-built holiday home exclusively for families of young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, it offers comfort, calm and space to simply be a family.

Every corner of The Bluebells has been thoughtfully created to bring ease, joy and connection. Families staying with us enjoy one of two spacious, fully accessible apartments, each comfortably sleeping up to eight people. The aim is simple: to offer a welcoming space where families can relax together, make memories and enjoy experiences that may not be possible elsewhere.

During your stay, you are welcome to enjoy our range of onsite facilities.
Accessible changing facilities and personal care equipment are available throughout, and our caring house manager, Laura, will be there to welcome you and help you settle in.
Please note that none of our staff are medically trained, but you are very welcome to bring a carer with you if you have access to one.

What to expect during your stay

Breaks are self-catered and usually run from Friday to Tuesday, with some mid-week stays (Tuesday to Friday) also available. Two families stay at The Bluebells at a time, each in their own private apartment, ensuring both comfort and privacy.
There is no charge for a restorative break. If you would like to support our work, a suggested donation of £50 per night helps us cover the cost of the facilities, including access to the pool, gardens and any activities taking place during your stay.

Booking a break

If you are supported by Sebastian’s Action Trust, you can register your interest in a stay by speaking with a family support worker or our house manager. If you are new to the Trust, please complete our referral form so we can get to know you and help you access our support.
The Bluebells is one of the very few places in the UK created solely for families of children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. Breaks are in high demand, so while we always do our best to offer preferred dates, bookings are subject to availability and we operate a waiting list at busy times.

Day visits

Not every family needs or wants an overnight stay, and many simply enjoy spending a few restorative hours at The Bluebells. Families are warmly welcome to book a day visit and enjoy the same calm, accessible environment and facilities. We suggest a donation of £10 for a general day visit, or £20 for a full day including use of the hydrotherapy pool. Donations are entirely optional, but every contribution helps us continue offering these services and makes a real difference for families. We’re here to provide whatever support feels right for you.
