Swimming at The Bluebells

Our fully accessible pool offers children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions a safe space to move, relax and experience the freedom of water — while families share precious moments together

Hydrotherapy

Our hydrotherapy pool at The Bluebells is a much-loved space where families can unwind, play and enjoy the soothing benefits of warm water together.

  • Heated to a relaxing 33°C
  • 7.63 metres in length — perfect for gentle movement and confidence in the water
  • Fully accessible changing facilities and ceiling hoists to ensure comfort and safety

Families can enjoy pre-booked sessions throughout the year. For many children, hydrotherapy provides gentle pain relief, freedom of movement, and moments of pure joy. For parents and siblings, it can be a rare chance to relax and enjoy time together without pressures or limitations.

Supported families can also be referred for an on-site assessment with a private physiotherapist, who may recommend personalised activities to help your child make the most of their time in the water.

You should see Bella's face light up when the car pulls up outside Bluebells! The sheer delight she shows when she sees her Bluebells swimming bag attached to her wheelchair is heart-warming. Swimming in regular pools is not an option for Bella; she needs warmth, protection from germs, and a hoist for safe entry and exit. Thankfully, all of this is available at the incredible Bluebells facility.
