Going the Extra Mile: Bewley Homes’ Matt Jenkins to Run The London Marathon for Sebastian’s Action Trust
Bewley Homes’ Health and Safety Manager, Matt Jenkins, is swapping his PPE he wears during the day for running shoes and another high-vis—this time for training in the evenings—as he prepares to take on the London Marathon in support of Sebastian’s Action Trust.
The local charity provides crucial emotional, social, and practical support to families of children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and Bewley raises tens of thousands of pounds every year from a range of fundraising initiatives.
Speaking about his motivation for running the marathon, Matt Jenkins shared: “Taking on the London Marathon is a huge personal challenge, but knowing that every step I take will help families facing unimaginable hardships makes it all worthwhile. Sebastian’s Action Trust does incredible work, and I’m honoured to be running in support of them. I hope to raise as much as possible to help them continue providing the vital support these families need.”
Sebastian’s Action Trust was founded in 2004, inspired by the last wish of its namesake, who envisioned a place where families facing enormous challenges could come together for memory-making, rest, and relaxation. The charity offers an ever-evolving programme of support, including family breaks at their flagship facility, The Bluebells, in North Waltham, outreach support, youth support, financial and welfare guidance, therapeutic activities, and counselling services. Their holistic model of care ensures that families receive tailored assistance, fostering resilience and reducing isolation during challenging times
Andrew Brooks, Managing Director at Bewley Homes, expressed his admiration for Matt’s marathon undertaking: “We are immensely proud of Matt for taking on this challenge in support of such a worthy cause. We have supported the charity for a long time and we encourage everyone to support Matt in his fundraising efforts and join us in championing the incredible work of Sebastian’s Action Trust.”
The charity has also welcomed Matt’s marathon efforts. A spokesperson said: “We are incredibly grateful to Matt for choosing to run the London Marathon in support of Sebastian’s Action Trust. His dedication and effort will help us continue providing vital services to families who desperately need support during the toughest of times. It is through the generosity and determination of fundraisers like Matt that we can support families with seriously ill children. We wish him the very best of luck on race day and look forward to cheering him on!”
Bewley has pledged to double Matt’s fundraising total.
