Local children's charity hosts a day of Christmas fun - in July

Children who may not see Christmas feel the ‘magic’ in July at Ascot Racecourse

A charity has brought the magic of Christmas to Ascot Racecourse for the families of seriously ill children – in the middle of July.

The fun-filled day of activities included everything from fairground rides and tribute acts to a surprise visit from Santa and Mrs Claus.

Sebastian’s Action Trust created the event on Sunday, July 13, to bring the magic of Christmas to children who, due to their illness or disability, may not experience the festive day itself.

Head of Family Services for the charity, Assunta Soldovieri, said: “Events like these are an opportunity for families to come together, away from the challenges of everyday life, to have fun and create special memories that will last a lifetime. It’s the flagship in our calendar of events for life-limited children, their parents and siblings, giving families facing unimaginable challenges the chance to enjoy experiences that most take for granted.”
